Chemistry question why is CO2 linear and NO2 nonlinear?

CO2 does not liquefy at atmospheric pressure, but instead forms a solid that sublimes at -78 degrees C. NO2 forms a liquid that boils at 21 degrees C at atmospheric pressure. How does these data support the statement that CO2 is a linear molecule whereas NO2 is nonlinear?
